Your benefits packet, decoded in about an hour

Upload your paystub and your hospital's benefits documents into the Benefits Decoder and answer ten questions. You get a personal guide that shows what you have, what you're missing, which accounts to fund first, and the age you reach Coast FI.

Includes a live Decode-Along on January 7, 2027. Works with a free Claude account.

You signed up for your benefits in about ten minutes

Orientation week. Badge photo, compliance modules, a skills check-off at 2. Somewhere in there you picked a retirement contribution, probably whatever looked normal, and you haven't opened the plan document since.

That document answers questions most nurses never get answered:

  • Exactly how much your employer will match, and the contribution you need to collect all of it
  • Whether you have a 457(b) you've never touched, and whether it's the kind that's protected if the hospital runs into trouble
  • When your employer money vests, and what you'd walk away from if you switched jobs next spring
  • What your pension is worth in real dollars, and how many years it can take off your timeline

Say you earn $70,000, contribute 3%, and the match goes to 6%. That's about $2,100 a year left behind. Over 25 years at a 6% return after inflation, it adds up to roughly $115,000 in today's dollars.

Questions to Ask HR

A ready-to-send email for anything your documents didn't answer.

How it works

Step 1

Gather your documents

Your paystub, benefits guide, and retirement statement. The mini-class shows where to find each one in your HR portal.

Step 2

Set up your Decoder

Copy it into your own Claude account. About five minutes, one time. A free account works.

Step 3

Answer ten questions

Your age, your spending, how long you plan to stay at this job. Ballpark numbers are fine.

Step 4

Check it, then get your guide

The Decoder shows you what it found in your documents and waits for you to confirm before it writes anything.

Why there's a founding price

This is the first time I'm opening the Benefits Decoder. Founding members get it for $67. After this round, it's $97.

In exchange, I'll ask you what confused you during setup, so I can fix it before the Decoder opens to everyone.

Founding Member

$67

One-time payment. Regular price $97.

Become a founding member

This is for you if

  • You have a retirement plan through your job
  • You couldn't name your match formula right now without looking it up
  • You want to know whether you can work less, and when
  • You'd rather spend one evening on this with help than read a 60-page PDF alone

This isn't for you if

  • You're per diem or travel with no employer benefits. The guide leans on employer plans.
  • You want someone to pick your funds. The Decoder teaches and does the math. It doesn't choose investments.
  • You're sorting out a divorce, an inheritance, or business income. Those deserve a fee-only CFP or CPA.

Questions

Do I need to pay for Claude?

No. A free Claude account works. Claude Pro ($20/month) runs smoother, because benefits PDFs are long and free accounts can hit a usage limit partway through your guide. You can buy one month, run the Decoder, and cancel.

I've never used Claude. Is this going to be technical?

Setup is copy, paste, and upload. The mini-class walks you through it on screen, and we do it together live on January 7.

Is my information safe?

Your documents go into your own Claude account. I never see them. Before you upload anything, the mini-class shows you how to properly remove your Social Security number and account numbers, including why a black box drawn over a PDF often doesn't actually hide the text.

Is this financial advice?

No. The Decoder is an educational tool. It explains your options and does the math based on your documents. It doesn't pick funds, and you should confirm plan details with your HR or benefits office before changing elections.

What if I can't make the live session?

The replay goes up within 24 hours, and the full mini-class follows by January 31, 2027.

My open enrollment already closed. Is it too late?

No. Retirement contributions can be changed any time of year, and that's where most of the Decoder's findings land. Health plan changes usually wait for next open enrollment, and your guide will flag those for you.

What if you don't deliver?

If the live session and the mini-class aren't delivered by January 31, 2027, you get a full refund.

Can I run it for my spouse too?

Yes. Start a separate chat in the same Decoder with your spouse's documents.

Doors close Friday, December 4
